Murray happy to guarantee medal

Andy Murray has admitted his relief at securing at least a silver medal after he beat Novak Djokovic on Friday evening.

The 25-year-old defeated the world number two in straight sets to set up a gold-medal showdown with Roger Federer, and Murray was quick to acknowledge his pride at securing a medal for his country.

Murray said: "I just wanted to try and win a medal, for the team, for the country and lastly for myself. I'm so happy. I would love to win the gold medal.

"Before the tournament started, the goal was to try and win a medal, so to guarantee a medal is great and I will go for it in the final."

The final with Federer is a repeat of their Wimbledon final encounter last month, which Federer won in four sets.
