Fernando Verdasco moves past Juan Monaco in Shanghai

Spain's Fernando Verdasco advanced through to round three of the Shanghai Masters at the expense of Juan Monaco this afternoon.

One break of serve was the difference between the two players in the opening set as Verdasco emerged a 6-4 victor.

The second set proved to be more straightforward for Verdasco, who broke Argentine Monaco on two occasions to record a 6-2 success.

He will now face Marin Cilic for a place in the quarter-finals.
