Kei Nishikori sees off Grigor Dimitrov at Shanghai Masters

Kei Nishikori has defeated Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets to reach the second round of the Shanghai Masters.

The Japanese 12th seed broke his Bulgarian opponent instantly before a second break allowed him to clinch the opening set 6-3.

Nishikori then saved three break points midway through the second set as he went on to the seal the victory 6-4.

He will now face Frenchman Benoit Paire with a place in the third round at stake.
