Richard Gasquet knocked out of Shanghai Masters by Vasek Pospisil

Richard Gasquet has been dealt an upset in the Shanghai Masters by Vasek Pospisil, who has knocked out the ninth seed in the first round with a 6-3 6-4 victory.

The Canadian started off the stronger of the two players on the court by nabbing an early break of serve and maintaining his dominance.

Gasquet was able to get three games on the board, but his forehands did little to trouble Pospisil, who easily claimed a one-set lead in Shanghai.

The Frenchman needed to step up his game in the second set, but it was not to be as Posposil once again secured a break to push on and wrap up the contest and book himself a place in the next round.
