Novak Djokovic has moved into the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters following a straight-sets win over Vasek Pospisil.
The 12-time Grand Slam champion, who is trying to stop Andy Murray from taking his world number one ranking before the season is out, earned a 6-4 6-4 triumph in one hour and 21 minutes.
Djokovic started strongly by claiming a double break at the first time of asking, and despite dropping serve in the sixth game, the Serbian managed to see out the set.
Pospisil failed to pose a threat in the second set as he could not create a single break point, while at the other end of the court, Djokovic broke to push himself ahead before wrapping up the clash.
The Australian and French Open champion will face Mischa Zverev in the final eight.
