Nicolas Almagro into round three of Shanghai Masters

Nicolas Almagro has defeated Jeremy Chardy in straight sets to make it into the third round of the Shanghai Masters.

The Spanish 15th seed needed one break of serve during the opening set before closing it out 6-3.

He then broke his French opponent again early in the second as he sealed the win 6-4 with just over an hour on the clock.

Almagro will face either Feliciano Lopez or fourth seed Tomas Berdych for a place in the quarter-finals.
