Kyrgios beats Giraldo to set up Murray clash

Nick Kyrgios has recorded a straight-sets win over Santiago Giraldo to progress through to the second round of the Rogers Cup.

The world number 70, who was handed a wildcard into the tournament after he defeated Rafael Nadal on the way to reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals, started poorly and quickly found himself 5-2 behind.

However, the Australian fought back to take the opener to a tie-break, which he took to move one set away from a win on his Masters Series debut.

The second was dominated on serve, but Kyrgios broke the Colombian during the 12th game of the set to see him register a 7-6 7-5 triumph.

Kyrgios will now play Andy Murray in the last 32, which is scheduled to be the first match to take place on the main Stadium court on Wednesday.
