David Ferrer overcomes Ivan Dodig en route to quarter-finals

David Ferrer comes from a set down to beat Ivan Dodig and book a place in the quarter-final of the Rogers Cup.

David Ferrer has overcome the stubborn challenge of Ivan Dodig en route to booking his place in the quarter-final of the Rogers Cup tonight.

World number 62 Dodig defied his position in the ATP rankings by cruising to a 6-1 win in the opening set to stun the seventh seed.

Nothing could separate the duo in the second set, however, as neither gave an inch away, with both players tied on three games apiece.

Nevertheless, Dodig's resistance finally waned and Ferrer levelled up the match by claiming the second set 6-3.

The Spaniard then went for the kill, inflicting a break of serve in the final set to move into a 5-2 lead, before ultimately sealing victory by the same margin to progress into the last eight.
