Jie Zheng defeats Roberta Vinci

Jie Zheng beat Roberta Vinci in the AEGON Classic 6-3 5-7 6-4 this afternoon.

Zheng raced into a 4-0 lead in the first set, breaking Vinci's serve twice. The Italian broke serve soon after to make it 4-1, but could not mount a serious challenge as Zheng proceeded to hold serve to secure the set 6-3.

Zheng broke serve straight away in the second set, but Vinci composed herself to keep in touch with her. The Italian then broke serve twice at the end of the set to win 5-7.

The third set opened with both players holding serve, before Vinci slipped up to allow Zheng a 3-1 lead.

Zheng went on to secure the set 6-4 and win the match.
