Caroline Wozniacki beats Christina McHale into third round of Madrid Open

Caroline Wozniacki continues her Madrid Open campaign by beating Christina McHale in straight sets in the second round.

Caroline Wozniacki has sealed a 7-5 6-0 victory over Christina McHale to book a place in the third round of the Madrid Open.

The fifth seed had a stuttered start to the first set by losing her opening service game, but she eventually responded with a break of her own.

McHale kept Wozniacki on her toes by breaking back, but the Dane was able to recover to snatch two further break points and claim a one-set lead.

The second set was a breeze for Wozniacki as she went two breaks up swiftly, and McHale lost her intensity from the first set.
