Heather Watson wins second WTA title in Hobart

British number one Heather Watson wins her second WTA title after defeating Madison Brengle in the final of the Hobart International.

Heather Watson has recorded a straight-sets victory over Madison Brengle to win the Hobart International title.

The British number one ran out a 6-3 6-4 winner to register her second triumph on the WTA Tour after previously winning in Osaka in 2012.

The 22-year-old, who had already taken the notable scalps of Sloane Stephens and Roberta Vinci this week, began slowly against the American before finally finding her rhythm to move into a one-set advantage.

Watson continued her improvement during the second and after breaking the world number 84's serve, she held on to complete the perfect preparation ahead of next week's Australian Open.

The Guernsey hitter will improve around nine places to number 40 in the WTA rankings when they are updated on Monday.
