Watson through to first WTA singles final

Heather Watson has made it through her first WTA Tour singles final in Osaka.

The 20-year-old defeated Japan's Misaki Doi 7-6 7-5 to become the second British woman to reach a final in as many months following Laura Robson's defeat in Guangzhou three weeks ago.

She will now face fellow debutant Chang Kai-Chen after the Chinese world number 100 stunned Samantha Stosur 6-4 4-6 7-6.

Watson has previously won two WTA doubles titles.
