James Ward returns to form with Bangalore Challenger triumph

British number four James Ward puts himself in pole position to feature for Great Britain in the Davis Cup final after winning the Bangalore Challenger.

British number four James Ward has secured his first title of 2015 after winning the Bangalore Challenger with a straight-sets victory against Adrian Menendez-MacEiras.

The 28-year-old has fallen down the ATP standings in recent months after a disastrous run of form since reaching the third round at Wimbledon, and he received a further blow when he was dropped from the Great Britain Davis Cup side against Australia.

However, Ward now looks on course to reclaim his place after hitting 14 aces on the way to beating top seed Menendez-MacEiras 6-2 7-5 in India.

Ward had been under threat of dropping outside the world's top 200 by the end of the year, but his success this week has ensured that he will move to 143 when the new listings are released on Monday.
