Ward records whitewash win in Dubai qualifying

James Ward is through to the second qualifying round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships after he recorded a whitewash win over Hamad Abbas Janahi.

The British number two, who is attempting to join Andy Murray in the main draw, needed just over 33 minutes to defeat the United Arab Emirates player, who doesn't possess a world ranking.

In a one-sided contest, Ward took six of his seven break-point opportunities while he conceded just 13 points during the entire match.

Ward will now play Marius Copil in the second and final round.
