Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has beaten Grigor Dimitrov to book a place in the second round of the China Open.
The world number 70 held his own against the Frenchman, the top seed in the competition, with a pair of close sets.
The opening set went to tie-break, which Tsonga won by two points, before he went on to win the second 7-5 after one hour and 48 minutes of play.
Tsonga will play Zhang Ze - ranked 389th worldwide - in the second round.
