Andy Roddick has reached the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, Florida, with a convincing straight-sets win over Gilles Muller.

The hard-hitting American started positively when he broke Muller's first service game.

The world number 34 was rarely troubled after that as he comfortably claimed the set 6-3.

Roddick broke his opponent in the first game of the second set as he took control in the Miami sun.

A second break of serve made life easier for Roddick as he took the set 6-2 to book his place in the next round.
