Robson bows out in Japan quarters

Laura Robson has been knocked out of the Japan Open as she was defeated by Chang Kai-Chen in three sets.

The 18-year-old had been hoping to reach her second final in Asia in the space of a month, but she was defeated 6-3 3-6 7-6 by her opponent from Taipei.

The world number 56 dropped her serve twice in the opening set to lose it 6-3, but she responded by taking the second set by the same scoreline.

The deciding set went with serve without a single break point being created, but it was Chang who struck in the tie-break to advance through to the last four.
