Johanna Konta fights back to beat Petra Kvitova in Eastbourne

British number one Johanna Konta overturns a one-set deficit to beat Petra Kvitova at the Aegon International in Eastbourne.

Johanna Konta has recorded one of the best wins of her career after she came from a set behind to beat Petra Kvitova at the Aegon International in Eastbourne.

The British number one faced a stiff test to overcome the two-time Wimbledon champion but she produced an excellent performance to prevail by a 5-7 6-4 6-0 scoreline.

Konta moved into a 5-2 advantage in the opening set but Kvitova stormed back with five successive games to move closer to a place in the quarter-finals.

However, Konta remained undeterred in front of her home crowd and after edging the second, she breezed through the decider for the loss of just 10 points to claim her spot in the next round.

The 25-year-old will now play the winner of the match between Andrea Petkovic and Ekaterina Makarova.
