Rafael Nadal moves into quarter-finals of China Open

Rafael Nadal grabs a quarter-final spot at the China Open with a straight-sets win over Peter Gojowczyk three months after recovering from a wrist injury.

Rafael Nadal has continued his positive return from injury by reaching the quarter-finals of the China Open.

The Spaniard, who spent three months on the sidelines with a wrist problem, came through a 6-3 6-4 win over Peter Gojowczyk.

Games went by way of serve in the early stages of the first set until Nadal found a break point in the sixth game, which was all that was needed to take the lead in Beijing.

Gojowczyk battled to hold on to his serve in the opening game of the second set after Nadal relinquished two break points, but the Spaniard eventually got his way in his opponent's next service game.

On the fourth break-point opportunity, Nadal struck to keep his dominance on the court as the next few games went by way of serve.

The former world number one struggled in the closing stages of the encounter as Gojowczyk came close to breaking, but the Spaniard managed to hold his serve to win the contest and set up a final-eight clash against Martin Klizan.
