Gael Monfils eases past Richard Gasquet

Gael Monfils has comfortably dealt with Richard Gasquet in the second round of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha.

The 27-year-old Parisian took just over an hour to dispose of his fellow Frenchman 6-2 7-5 and set up a third-round meeting with Daniel Brands.

Gasquet averaged 86% on his first serve throughout the match, but was unable to turn that to his advantage as Monfils took four of the seven break points he created.

Monfils was broken just once on his way to victory, as he improved his head-to-head record over Gasquet to 4-3.
