Feliciano Lopez wins Eastbourne title

Feliciano Lopez triumphed in the final of the Aegon International this afternoon with a 7-6 6-7 6-0 victory over Gilles Simon at Eastbourne.

Both players struggled to come to terms with the conditions in the early stages, but the match remained on serve in the opening four games.

Simon took advantage of a poor service game from Lopez to break moments later, but Lopez broke straight back as the first set headed for a tie-break.

Lopez continued to dominate from the baseline, however, with the Spaniard claiming the tie-break 7-2 to open up a one-set lead in Eastbourne.

Both continued to serve well in the second, with the set once more heading for a tie-break as the windy conditions eased somewhat.

It was Simon who came out on top, the Frenchman sending the final into a third set.

Lopez dominated from the onset, however, as the Spaniard claimed the third set with a comfortable 6-0 score.
