Laura Robson crashes out in Canada following Ellie Halbauer defeat

Great Britain's Laura Robson is unable to push on from her first victory in almost two years, having lost 6-2 4-6 6-2 to Ellie Halbauer in the second round.

Laura Robson has suffered defeat against Ellie Halbauer at the second-round stage of a Challenger event in Canada.

The Briton picked up a first singles victory in nearly two years on Wednesday, but she was unable to overcome Halbauer in her latest outing.

Robson, now ranked at 913 in the world following a lengthy injury layoff, fell 6-2 4-6 6-2 in a time of two hours and 31 minutes.

Despite the setback, the 21-year-old will still compete at next month's US Open as a result of her protected ranking.
