Petra Kvitova books Wuhan Open semi-finals spot

World number three Petra Kvitova books her place in the semi-finals of the Wuhan Open with a convincing 6-3 6-4 triumph over Caroline Garcia in China.

Petra Kvitova has defeated Caroline Garcia in straight sets to advance through to the semi-finals of the Wuhan Open.

The world number three needed just one hour and 23 minutes to overcome her French opponent 6-3 6-4 in China to reach the last four of the event.

Garcia lost serve early on in the opening set, allowing Kvitova to race into an early three-game lead which she saw out with relative ease.

The second set remained tight until the seventh game, going the way of serve before Garcia was edged out to set up Kvitova's path to the next round.

The Czech pro will face either Angelique Kerber or Elina Svitolina in the semis.
