Ana Ivanovic into China Open third round

Ana Ivanovic has reached the third round of the China Open with a straight-sets triumph over Switzerland's Romina Oprandi.

The start of the match was punctuated by the inability of both players to hold serve, but ninth seed Ivanovic broke for a fourth time late on to seal it 6-4.

Oprandi hinted at a fightback early in the second with an early break, only for Ivanovic to win the next five matches on her way to securing the victory 6-4 6-2.

The Serbian will now meet Sabine Lisicki for a place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
