Ryan Harrison edges out Kyle Edmund in Atlanta Open semi-finals

Harrison edges out Edmund in Atlanta

Ryan Harrison has ended Kyle Edmund's hopes of a first ATP final at the Atlanta Open after coming from behind to win their last-four contest on Saturday.

British number two Edmund had been hoping to break new ground in his first outing on the American swing, but the 22-year-old succumbed to a 6-7 6-3 6-4 defeat.

The momentum had appeared to be with Edmund after he fought back in the opening set to win it on a tie-break, but the Beverley-based player soon fell behind in the second and Harrison successfully served it out.

Harrison remained the dominant player and in the decider, one break was enough to set up a showdown with compatriot John Isner in the final.

For Edmund, his run to the semi-finals has helped him into the top 60 in the ATP Race to London, but he still has over 200 ranking points to defend in North America over the next six weeks.
