Halep clinches first WTA title

Romania's Simona Halep has won her first WTA title with a straight-sets victory over Andrea Petkovic in Nuremberg.

The world number 58 secured the triumph by beating her German opponent 6-3 6-3 on Saturday.

Petkovic, who is now ranked 109th in the world, was playing in her first final since 2011 following a series of injuries.

Halep was recently beaten in the first round of the French Open.
