Tommy Haas edges out Tomas Berdych in Halle

Tommy Haas has reached the semi-finals of the Gerry Weber Open with a surprising three-sets victory over Tomas Berdych in Halle.

The hard-hitting German world number 87 got off to a solid start as a single break of serve saw him take the opening set 7-5.

However, a drop in the second allowed world number seven Berdych to level the match 6-3.

With a third-set tie-break looking likely, Haas managed to break his Czech opponent's final service game to see out the win 7-5.
