Richard Gasquet eases into second round

Richard Gasquet has progressed to the second round of the Qatar Open with a comfortable victory over Jan Hernych.

The 26-year-old Swiss won his first-round tie 6-3 6-4 in Doha.

Gasquet was in control of the first set right from the start and wrapped it up in just 38 minutes, as Hernych made five more errors than him.

Gasquet maintained his consistency in the second set and after going 4-3 up after an hour and seven minutes on the clock, did not look back.
