David Ferrer picked up his third consecutive Copa Claro title in Buenos Aires on Sunday by beating Fabio Fognini 6-4 6-3 in the final.

Ferrer had not won an ATP World Tour event since last year's Copa Claro, despite reaching seven other finals in the last 12 months.

He claimed 23 of 52 return points and broke serve three times en route to overcoming second seed Fognini inside 75 minutes.

The world number five had knocked out Maximo Gonzalez, Santiago Giraldo, Albert Ramos and Nicolas Almagro in the earlier rounds.
