David Ferrer survives Philipp Kohlschreiber test to reach Barcelona Open semis

David Ferrer grabs a place in the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open following a straight-sets win over Philipp Kohlschreiber.

David Ferrer is two wins away from claiming the Barcelona Open title after sealing a 6-3 7-6(5) victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber in the quarter-finals.

Ferrer struck first in the opening set by claiming his fourth break point in the fourth game and went on to take control of proceedings.

Kohlschreiber eventually responded by snatching Ferrer's serve, but his opponent broke back instantly before successfully serving for the one-set lead.

Composure seemed to fly out of the window in the second set as both players lost serve three times, resulting in a tie-break, which Ferrer was able to edge 7-5.
