Novak Djokovic sees off Kyle Edmund on return to action

Novak Djokovic makes a winning return to action by defeat Great Britain's Kyle Edmund at the Miami Open after a week dominated by off-court matters.

Novak Djokovic put a bad week away from the court behind him last night by seeing off Great Britain's Kyle Edmund in the second round of the Miami Open.

The world number one was widely criticised after claiming that male tennis players should be paid more than their female counterparts because they attract more spectators.

He has since backtracked and tried to distance himself from Raymond Moore, the Indian Wells tournament director who said that women should get down on their knees and thank God that Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal play the game.

Djokovic was back in action last night and came through 6-3 6-3 against 21-year-old Brit Edmund.

The Serb raced out to a 4-0 lead early on before Edmund got one break back in the first set. The second was a little tighter, but Edmund rarely threatened the Djokovic serve.

Up next in the third round for the five-time Miami champion is a match against Portugal's Joao Sousa.
