Eugenie Bouchard withdraws from Eastbourne

Eugenie Bouchard withdraws from her last-16 contest with Belinda Bencic at Eastbourne midway through the second set.

Eugenie Bouchard has been forced to withdraw from her last-16 match with Belinda Bencic at Eastbourne.

On Tuesday, the Canadian recorded a morale-boosting win over Alison Riske, which was just her eighth WTA Tour success of 2015, but 24 hours later, last year's Wimbledon runner-up has suffered a further blow to what has developed into a disappointing campaign.

With Bencic holding a 6-4 3-0 advantage, the world number 12 called for the trainer, who advised the 21-year-old to pull out of the match.

After the match, Bouchard revealed that she was suffering with an abdominal problem, but she doesn't expect it to keep out out of Wimbledon.
