Vera Zvonareva loses out to Garbine Muguruza Blanco in two sets in the second round of the Sony Ericsson Open.

Garbine Muguruza Blanco has overcome Vera Zvonareva 6-4 6-3 in round two of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, Florida.

Zvonareva started off on the front foot and looked set to take the lead in the second round, giving her the set and the advantage in the match.

Despite a positive performance in the opening games, the Russian pro crumbled and allowed her Spanish opponent to come into the contest midway through the first set.

Blanco displayed a number of powerful and well-placed shots to claim the break and fight her way to the opening set.

Composure was needed for the Spaniard to keep hold of her lead and she was successful in holding off Zvonareva and completing the second and final set in order to reach the next round of the competition.
