Tomas Berdych sails past Feliciano Lopez into second round of China Open

Tomas Berdych eases into the second round of the China Open with a straight-sets win over Feliciano Lopez.

Tomas Berdych has secured a comfortable 6-1 6-2 victory over Feliciano Lopez to reach the second round of the China Open.

The 29-year-old drew first blood in the opening set by breaking Lopez's serve in the fourth game to take a swift 3-1 lead.

The Spaniard, who struggled to deliver an immediate response, failed to save two break points and was forced to accept a one-set deficit.

Berdych pushed his opponent to the limit in the opening game of the second set by creating four break points before snatching an early advantage.

Lopez managed to save four break points in his next service game, but later down the line, Berdych administered another blow by breaking the serve and pushing on to win the contest.
