Roberto Bautista Agut grabs quarter-final spot at Barcelona Open

Roberto Bautista Agut beats Pablo Cuevas in straight sets to seal a place in the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open.

Roberto Bautista Agut has managed to fight his way into the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open with a 7-6(5) 6-2 victory over Pablo Cuevas.

It was a poor start for the 27-year-old as he lost serve in the opening game of the first set, and he looked as though he would go another break down, but he saved three break points.

After Bautista Agut bounced back with a break of his own, the set was decided by a tie-break, which the seventh seed was able to edge 7-5.

The second set was fairly even in the early stages, but Cuevas struggled to overcome his one-set deficit and he suffered a double break.

Bautista Agut wrapped up the contest by successfully serving for the match and will face Kei Nishikori in the next round.
