Pablo Andujar stuns David Ferrer to reach Barcelona Open final

Pablo Andujar stuns Spanish compatriot David Ferrer in straight sets in the Barcelona Open semi-finals to set up a final meeting with Kei Nishikori.

Pablo Andujar secured a place in the final of the Barcelona Open by stunning David Ferrer in straight sets in the semis this afternoon.

The Spaniard trailed his compatriot as an early break helped Ferrer into a 4-1 lead in the opening set, but Andujar fought back to leave himself serving for the first set.

Ferrer dug deep to force a tie-break, and was 4-1 up again in the breaker, but a string of errors let the unseeded 29-year-old back in for an 8-6 win.

The pair were well matched at the start of the second set, but Ferrer's serve deserted him to leave Andujar serving for the match.

Ferrer battled hard from the back of the court to try to keep himself in the tournament, but his opponent kept his cool to serve it out.

Andujar will face defending champion Kei Nishikori in his first ATP World Tour 500 event final tomorrow.
