Four-time winner Andy Roddick is knocked out at the Queen's Club by Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

Andy Roddick was knocked out at the second-round stage at Queen's Club by Edouard Roger-Vasselin this afternoon.

Roger-Vasselin started the brighter of the two players on the grass, with his forehand strokes in particular appearing to cause Roddick problems.

The Frenchman eventually managed to break the Roddick serve before going on to claim the opening set 6-4.

The two players traded service games for large parts of the second set. However, with the scores 5-4 in Roddick's favour, the American claimed a decisive break to take the match into a decider.

There was very little to separate the two players during the final set, with neither able to achieve an early break of serve.

However, Roger-Vasselin registered a decisive break to open up a 6-5 advantage. He then produced a neat drop-shot on match point to which Roddick had no answer to as the American fell at the first hurdle.

Roddick has previously won the tournament on four occasions.
