Ward, Edmund handed Queen's wildcards

British players James Ward and Kyle Edmund have been handed wildcard entries into the main draw of the Aegon Championships at Queen's next month.

Ward is a former semi-finalist at the pre-Wimbledon grass-court tournament, while Edmund has just reached a career-high ranking of 121.

After announcing that the duo would join former world number one Lleyton Hewitt as the wildcards for the event, tournament director Stephen Farrow said: "James made a huge impression on the crowds at the Aegon Championships with his run to the semi-finals in 2011, and Kyle is an exciting young British talent.

"The field of players this year is one of the strongest we have ever assembled. With so many highly-ranked players, one of our greatest champions in Lleyton Hewitt, young stars like Nick Kyrgios, and now two British wildcards, we can't wait for the tournament to begin."

British number one Andy Murray and defending champion Grigor Dimitrov will also take part in this year's tournament at Queen's.
