Serena Williams has revealed her excitement as she closes in on setting a new record at the Miami Masters.

The American defeated Chinese opponent Li Na 6-3 7-6[5] on Tuesday to progress to the semi-finals of the competition.

The win means that Williams equalled Steffi Graf's record for the number of match wins in this tournament, which has delighted the world number one.

"I'm excited," Williams told Sky Sports News. "It's just great.

"Every day I play here is a surprise for me because I enjoy it so much. I enjoy the great crowd and I'm just happy to still be here."
