Ward ruled out for season

British number four James Ward has confirmed that he will not play again this season due to a wrist injury.

The 25-year-old fractured his left wrist in July before suffering a recurrence of the problem in Shanghai earlier this month.

He tweeted: "Injury update....torn tendon in the same wrist I fractured after wimby so I won't play again this year!! Gutted!!"

Ward pushed world number 22 Mardy Fish to five sets in the second round of Wimbledon this year.
