Swedish tennis player Robin Soderling reveals that he may not recover from an illness to play the game again.

Two-time French Open finalist Robin Soderling has conceded that he may never play tennis professionally again.

The 28-year-old did not feature at all during 2012 because of a succession of injuries and a battle with glandular fever.

Despite admitting that he would like to return, the Swede has admitted that a number of "setbacks" have left him unsure as to what the future holds for him in the tennis world.

"In the past couple of months I had my best weeks and days, which gives me the hope, but I get setbacks and feel worse again," he said.

"Overall it's getting better but I'm not as desperate to come back any more tomorrow. I will give it a shot, of course, but I learned to live with the thought that maybe it will not be possible."

Soderling once reached a career-high four in the world rankings.
