Andy Murray advises Heather Watson to take a break from tennis if she needs it.

British number one Andy Murray has warned Heather Watson of the potential of burnout, advising her to sit out some events if her body does not feel up to it.

Watson recently ruled out a break from the game, claiming that she was misinterpreted, and intends to carry on with her busy schedule.

"After I played Wimbledon for the first time, I played 10 weeks of events in a row, right through to the US Open," BBC Sport quotes Murray as saying. "I wouldn't dream of doing that now. My body would be too sore and I would get so tired.

"But when you first get on to the tour, you want to play every single week. Everything's new to you, and you want to be involved in any event you can because it's what you've always dreamed of.

"Once you get there, it's important to reassess your goals, and understand that resting is very important. The physical side is very important, so that you can have a long career."

Watson is due to play in the WTA tournament in Charleston starting on April 1.
