Tim Henman believes that Andy Murray made the right decision in withdrawing from the French Open to ensure that he is 100% fit going into Wimbledon.

Tim Henman has insisted that Andy Murray's absence at the French Open will not affect his chances of winning Wimbledon this year.

Murray was forced to withdraw from the ongoing tournament at Roland Garros due to a back injury, raising concerns over his fitness for Wimbledon, which begins later this month.

However, Henman believes that Murray made the right decision to pull out as it will give him the best chance to be 100% fit for Wimbledon.

"I don't think missing the French Open will have any real impact on Wimbledon as long as he is fit and healthy," Henman added.

"It is a Grand Slam and when you are one of the best players in the world you don't want to miss one of those because they are the pinnacle of our sport. Andy is very disappointed about missing the French but I think it was a good decision in terms of him getting 100% healthy in time for Wimbledon.

"I had lunch with him last week and he is certainly moving in the right direction. Fingers crossed he is ready for Queen's and then, more importantly, ready for Wimbledon in three weeks."

Andy Murray, who reached the final of last year's tournament, will be looking to become the first British player to win Wimbledon since 1936.
