Novak Djokovic: 'I have mental edge over Andy Murray'

Djokovic: 'I have mental edge over Murray'

Novak Djokovic has admitted that he will head into this evening's Miami Open final against Andy Murray in a confident mood, having won the last six matches against his opponent.

The world number one has beaten Murray twice already this year, once in the Australian Open final and also at Indian Wells last month, and victory over Murray in Florida will see the Serbian land the Indian Wells-Miami double for a third time in his illustrious career.

Having also won his last nine matches against the Brit on hard courts, in a run which stretches back to 2012, Djokovic acknowledges that he has the psychological edge heading into the showdown.

"That gives me confidence, and maybe a slight mental advantage," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "But we're talking about small margins.

"That's always the case when we play against each other. Andy has been playing so well this year, especially here in Miami over the years. He lives here, spends a lot of time practising on these courts, so he's familiar with the conditions."

Murray's last win over Djokovic came during his 2013 Wimbledon triumph on home soil.
