Jo-Wilfried Tsonga battles into Monte Carlo Masters quarter-finals

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga reaches the quarter-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters by defeating Fabio Fognini in three sets.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga came from a set down to secure a 5-7 6-3 6-0 victory over Fabio Fognini and move into the quarter-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters.

It was a tight contest in the early stages of the first set, with games going by the way of serve on Centre Court.

Both players were able to grab breaks of serve, but Fognini held on to the advantage to win the set, preventing Tsonga from taking it to a tie-break.

The second set once again went by the way of serve, but it was Tsonga who grabbed the only break of the set, while Fognini squandered six break points to lose his lead.

Tsonga completely dominated the third set as he broke his opponent's serve at the first time of asking and continued to unleash strong shots across the court.

Fogini failed to answer Tsonga's attack and was unable to get a single game on the board in the third set.
