Gilles Simon has booked his place in the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters with a straight-sets win over fellow Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Simon got off to an explosive start as two breaks of the Tsonga serve saw him race into a 3-0 lead.
However, Tsonga broke back instantly before he squared proceedings at 5-5.
Despite the world number five's resurgence, Simon clinched a final break before he served out the set 7-5.
Tsonga looked to have wrestled the initiative in the second with an early break, but the world number 15 hit back twice late in the set to win 6-4 and progress to the last four.
