Novak Djokovic powers past Marin Cilic in Monte Carlo

World number one Novak Djokovic records a straight-sets win over Marin Cilic to reach the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters.

Novak Djokovic has booked his place in the last four of the Monte Carlo Masters with a straight-sets victory over Marin Cilic.

The world number one came through by a 6-0 6-3 scoreline to move through to a semi-final showdown with either Rafael Nadal or David Ferrer.

Cilic had caused Djokovic problems during their clash at Roland Garros in 2014, but on this occasion, the world number one looked in imperious form as he raced through the opening set with three breaks of serves while conceding just four points behind his own delivery.

A whitewash was prevented as Cilic got on the board at the start of the second, but Djokovic soon found the break to sweep into a 3-1 advantage.

Cilic remained competitive in the match at 5-3 behind, but he dropped serve for a fifth time in the contest to allow Djokovic to ease through in just 65 minutes.
