Tomas Berdych gifted semi-final place as Milos Raonic retires in Monte Carlo

Tomas Berdych moves into the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters without winning a set as Milos Raonic retires with a foot injury.

Tomas Berdych will fight for a place in the final of the Monte Carlo Masters after Milos Raonic was forced to retire from their quarter-final contest with a foot injury.

The Czech player, who reached the semi-final of the Australian Open earlier this year, started strongly on the clay surface by grabbing an early break point.

He continued to dominate and eventually went another break up, despite Raonic initially saving two break points in the seventh game.

Just as Berdych was about to serve for the set, Raonic decided to pull out of the contest as his foot troubled him too much to continue.
