Heather Watson out of Indian Wells

Heather Watson has lost in the first round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells to Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu.

The world number 49 was broken twice in the opening set as world number 53 Begu clinched it 6-2.

Watson then squandered five break points in the second, allowing Begu to close out the match 6-4.

The British number one had been beaten in the qualifying round of the tournament in the previous two years.
