Andreas Seppi retires through illness

Mardy Fish has progressed through to the last 32 of the Indian Wells Masters, after Andreas Seppi retired midway through their second round encounter because of illness.

The American claimed the only break of the opening set in game six and then held consecutive love service games to take the first.

Fish broke again in game five of the second and, despite the world number 46 persevering to deuce in the following game, Seppi decided to call it a day.

The eighth seed will now face Matthew Ebden, after the Australian defeated Julien Benneteau.
